Basic Terms

The words in a language can be defined however we want. But to communicate with each other, we have to use the same definitions, unless we're arguing about how to best define a word. This is a list of some terms that have been defined using the root model on this page.


Observer
A being that can make observations and relate them.
Agent
An observer with agency.

Observation
Experiences attributed to the outerworld or introspection/self-awareness.
Model
The integration of a set of observations and relations.
Explanation
Observations and relations expressed in language.
Knowledge
Observations, concepts, and the relations between them.

Fact
Observation generally held to be true by a set of observers.
Evidence
Fact that supports a particular model.
Scientific Theory
Scientific model.

True
A statement consistant with reality. Not false.
Valid
An inference consistant with reality. Not invalid.
Inference
The derivation of logical conclusions from premises.
